Time for a travel plan reveal! 🌍🤩For the p Time for a travel plan reveal! 🌍🤩For the past couple of weeks we have been traveling in Central Europe and house-sitting in Slovenia, enjoying the crispy autumn weather and the stunning views of autumn leaves and snow-capped mountains. Although it would be quite tempting to stay in some cute mountain cabin for a month or two, it is time for us to leave the camper van and Europe behind, and move to warmer climates for the winter. The first step is to fly to Spain for a week, to meet up with our friends, to work a bit and to enjoy the sunny Mediterranean November. From Andalucia we will then continue to London in mid November, for a flight to CAPE TOWN! 🇿🇦🤩😍Next half a year will be all about exploring southern parts of Africa, starting from South Africa. At this point, we don't have a clear travel plan, just the flight to Cape Town. Most probably we will spend most of the time in South Africa and in Botswana, but also visit at least Namibia, possibly also other countries in the region. But we will star slowly, settling in Cape Town for a while after the hectic autumn in Europe.South Africa is a new country for us, so if you have been there, tips for Cape Town and its surroundings, as well as other places in the Western Cape, and elsewhere in the country, are welcome! Share your experiences or recommendations in the comments, or send us a message directly. The pics are from our first first winter in Africa two years ago, taken in the Nairobi National Park and Amboseli National Park in Kenya.#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #locationindependent #travelphotography #africa #nomadiclife
As the pics in the previous post from Thessaloniki As the pics in the previous post from Thessaloniki were all about monuments and sightseeing, let's do another one focusing on the pet-sitting gig!🐾 The stars of our stay in this beautiful city were of course the dogs and cats that we were taking care of. We had lovely walks along the Thessaloniki Waterfront with the dogs, and enjoyed playing with the cats and cuddling on the sofa with the whole pack in the evenings.🥰Wondering what pet-sitting, or house-sitting is? In short, it is a concept where homeowners entrust their house and often also their pets, plants and gardens to the care of house-sitters while they are on vacation or otherwise away from home for an extended period of time. As a home owner, you get to go on a holiday or work trip knowing, that your house, pets and plants are taken good care of, and in return, the traveling house-sitters get a place to stay and pets to cuddle with.Interested in hearing more and learning how you can do this? Hit us with a DM or comments, we are happy to answer any questions, and can share more info in this channel too if there is interest in this topic!🐾#finnsaway #nomadlife #housesitting
After exploring Corfu for a few days, we headed to After exploring Corfu for a few days, we headed to Thessaloniki for a three-weeks house-sitting gig. We took care of two adorable dogs and two lovely cats in an apartment conveniently located right by the Thessaloniki Waterfront, a seaside boardwalk perfect for running and dog walks.Thessaloniki is the largest city in the northern part of Greece and has been inhabited since prehistoric times. It is a bustling city full of history, including archaeological sites and monuments from Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman era.To us this was already third visit to this city, and we still found a lot of new, or should I say old - we visited for the first time the charming Ano Poli area up on the hills, partly enclosed within the old walls of the city, and the Thessaloniki Acropolis beneath a Byzantine-era fortress. The most famous landmark of the city, however, is proudly standing right by the waterfront – the White Tower of Thessaloniki (pic 1) has evidenced several turning points in the history of the city. The tower was built on top of a Byzantine fortification after the Ottoman Empire invaded and seized control of the city in 1430. For a long time it was actually called as “the Tower of Blood” or “the Red Tower” because of its reputation as a prison in which many were brutally tortured. Nowadays the monument is home to a museum which lays out the history of Thessaloniki.#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitthessaloniki #visitgreece
One more throwback to Corfu, this time to the city One more throwback to Corfu, this time to the city of Corfu, the capital of the island and the region of the Ionian Islands. Corfu has played an important role in Greek history since antiquity, and since the medieval times it has been known as Kastropolis, a city of two castles.Corfu was ruled by Venetian nobility from 1386 to 1797, and the UNESCO listed Old Town has a lot of Venetian influence. There are two handsome Venetian fortresses, the Old Fortress of Corfu, located on two peaks that form the easternmost the tip of the peninsula, and the New Fortress, that stands on a hill next to the old port. The Old Town of Corfu, in between the two fortresses, is a tightly built maze of narrow cobblestone alleys running in between apartment buildings and churches. There are also notable palaces, especially the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, that originally served as the residence of the British Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands.#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitcorfu
During our short stay in Corfu we explored some of During our short stay in Corfu we explored some of the beautiful villages of the island. Whereas Corfu seems to lack the iconic white-and-blue-Greek-island vibes, the villages charm with laid-back atmosphere, soft pastel colors, cobbled alleys, small tavernas and of course with cats. These pics are from along a bicycle ride on the hills around Palaiokastritsa.Pics 1-6 Lakones

Throwback to September and to the island of Corfu! Throwback to September and to the island of Corfu! This beautiful, historical Island in northwestern corner of Greece is part of the Ionian Islands and the Corfu regional unit.In this first photo dump, let's focus on the coastline and beaches, as that's for sure one thing that Corfu is famous for. Corfu's coastline spans 217 km, with a lot picturesque capes and bays, caves cliffs and both rocky and sandy beaches.Back in the days Corfu was mainly visited by the European royals and elites, but has for decades been a popular package holiday destination – in fact Cofu was one of the primary destinations for this form of mass tourism in the latter half of the 20th century. There are a lot of holiday resorts and private villas along the coastline, but it's still possible to also find quiet, isolated beaches from along the rocky coast, some of them only accessible by boat.Have you visited Corfu or other Greek Islands? Which is your favorite? 💙#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitcorfu
Travel tip to Albania - a visit to historical Kruj Travel tip to Albania - a visit to historical Kruja! This town, especially the old fortress of it, the Kalaja e Krujë, played an important role in medieval history of Albania. The Castle of Kruja was the center of Skanderbeg's rebellion against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century.Kruja Fortress has become a popular tourism destination, and for a reason – it's a beautifully restaured castle with museums, a mosque, an old watchtower, a Turkish bath, several restaurants, hotels and guesthouses. Furthermore, there are picturesque alleys and stunning views all the way to the Adriatic Sea and over Tirana.Below the fortress itself is the Old Town of Kruja, with a famous bazaar area. A walk along the narrow, cobbled bazaar street lined with small shops selling colourful carpets, handicrafts antiques and ceramics is like a jump back in time.#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelforlife #travelinspiration #visitalbania #krujacastle
Throwback to Lublin!😍 This charming city in eas Throwback to Lublin!😍 This charming city in eastern Poland was one of the rare stops on our fast road trip from Finland to Albania. We only had time for a short walking tour in the old town, that is rich in history and lively at the same time.Lublin has over 700 years of history, and it has been a meeting point of Western and Eastern cultures. The Old Town bursts Renaissance architecture and has secrets like an underground tunnel system that connects a network of ancient cellars. The main entrance to the old town is is the Krakowska Gate (The Krakow Gate, in pic 1), a city gate from the 14th century, that once was part of the city walls. The name of the gate originates from the historic route that lead from Krakow via Lublin to Vilnius. Nowadays the gate building is home to the Museum of History of the city of Lublin. The Lublin goat is one of the most important symbols of the city. While walking in the old town, we spotted several small goat statues. The goat figures are dedicated to important people and events in the city 🐐In pic 9 you can see Kazik the goat - this statue was named in honor of King Casimir the Great, who ruled when the Krakowska Gate was built. He holds a spirit level, that reflects the fact that the gate is not standing completely straight. In pic 10 is goat Światłowid (that translates to fibre optics) - this statue commemorates the historic achievement of Lublin being the first centre in Poland to begin to research fibre optics technology.#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #locationindependent #travelblog #travelinspiration #travelforlife #nomadiclife #adventurers #visitlublin
