Moments from along a road trip from Sweden and Nor Moments from along a road trip from Sweden and Norway. After ferry crossing from Helsingør in Denmark to Helsingborg, we drove north towards Norway. The first actual destination on this leg was Oslo, the modern capital of Norway. We visited on a lovely, hot summer day, and there was huge amount of people in the city center as well as swimming in the sea right next to it.We drove further northwest past Lillehammer, and stayed for a night in Brumunddal. After visiting friends near the Rondane National Park, we followed the turquoise Gudbrandsdalslågen river towards Åndalsnes.Sunday reel 34 / 2025#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #nomadiclife #travelinspiration #roadtrip
Throwback to the sunny streets of Helsingør with Throwback to the sunny streets of Helsingør with these random pics from the medieval old town and the Culture Yard just next to it by the harbor.Helsingør, also known as Elsinore, is an 800-year-old market town, and home to the Hamlet-famous Kronborg castle. The small historical center is a lovely place for a short stroll along atmospheric, cobbled streets lined with colorful houses.#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitdenmark #visithelsingør
The UNESCO-listed Kronborg castle in Helsingør, D The UNESCO-listed Kronborg castle in Helsingør, Denmark is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe. It was immortalised as Elsinore in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, and is a very popular tourism destination in this old coastal city. The castle's history dates back to a stronghold, Krogen, built by King Eric VII in the 1420s. Along with the fortress Kärnan in Helsingborg, on the opposite coast of Øresund, it controlled the entrance to the Baltic Sea. From 1574 to 1585, King Frederick II had the medieval fortress radically transformed into a magnificent Renaissance castle.Hamlet was first staged at Kronborg in 1816, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.Sunday reel 33 / 2025#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #nomadiclife #instatravel #travelinspiration #kronborgcastle #visitdenmark
A tip for Sjælland island in Denmark; a visit to A tip for Sjælland island in Denmark; a visit to Vallø Castle park in Køge!This handsome castle, with a beautiful, large English landscape -style park with green lawns and groups of old trees, is a great destination for a day trip from Copenhagen. The current castle, that dates back to the 16th century, consists of four wings with towers, and is surrounded by a moat. The architecture is a mix of Gothic style and Baroque elements. In 1708 Vallø was acquired by King Frederick IV who passed it on to Anne Sophie Reventlow. In 1731 King Christian VI passed the property on to Queen Sophia Magdalene who in 1737 founded the Noble Vallø Foundation for Unmarried Daughters. Owned by the foundation, the castle has served as a residence for unmarried, widowed and divorced women of noble descent. The castle park provides an elegant setting for the castle, and is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for spending time in summer. The castle itself is not open to visitors, but it is allowed to visit the castle courtyard.#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitdenmark #valloecastle
The last stops of the road trip in Germany, before The last stops of the road trip in Germany, before continuing north to Denmark, were the Hanseatic city of Bremen, and Flensburg at the tip of the Flensburg Fjord.Bremen is a handsome, historic city, and of course home of the famous Bremen Town Musicians. The main sights include the magnificent, UNESCO-listed town hall, several majestic churches and the Schnoor quarter, Bremen’s oldest district. A walk along the old Böttcherstraße street combines impressive architecture, arts and culture. While Bremen is a well known and popular city, the small Flensburg in the north is more of a hidden gem. Our visit was very short, but we liked the atmosphere of the town, and the sunset by the fjord was beautiful. Located very close to the Danish border, Flensburg has somewhat Scandinavian feel, and it is a meeting point of German and Danish cultures.Sunday reel 32 / 2025#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #nomadiclife #visitbremen #visitgermany
Throwback to France and Kaysersberg, as we just re Throwback to France and Kaysersberg, as we just realized, that we forgot to post about the fantastic castle ruin! The views over the town of Kaysersberg and the vineyards around it are dominated by the ruins of Kaysersberg castle, towering right above the old town. The castle ruin nowadays consists of remains of stone walls that climb up the hill, and of a majestic round tower, one of the oldest round keeps in Alsace. After climbing up the long spiral staircase inside the tower, there are beautiful panoramic view of the town, the Weiss Valley, the vineyards and the Alsace plain. The castle has a long history; it was built in the early 13th century, and back then it was property of the Holy Roman Empire. The castle was a strategic stronghold on the road crossing the Vosges Mountains, blocking access to Lorraine. The town of Kaysersberg grew around the castle, inside the fortification walls. In 1293, Emperor Adolph of Nassau proclaimed the city "Imperial free town", giving it great privileges.#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitsalsace #kaysersberg
Unkel am Rhein was a lovely find 😍This small Unkel am Rhein was a lovely find 😍This small town in the Rhine Valley has a charming, historical old town right by the river. The main sights include St. Pantaleon, a 12th century Romanesque church, the Freiligrathaus baroque palace and the Red House, a half-timbered house and former home of Chancellor Willy Brandt, now a museum.A walk through the old town of Unkel, along narrow, cobbled streets, offers picturesque views and beautiful, centuries old half-timbered houses, and the riverside walking promanade is ideal for having a picnic or just hanging around, admiring the views.Sunday reel 31 / 2025#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #visitgermany #rhinevalley
Cochem is a super pretty, historical town along th Cochem is a super pretty, historical town along the Mosel River in western Germany. This small has been an important wine trading centre since the Roman times, and is a popular cycling and wine tourism destination in the picturesque Moselle Valley.During our visit the weather unfortunately was quite gray and cloudy, but the old alleys and squares, lined with half-timbered houses, looked beautiful nevertheless. The most distinctive feature of Cochem is the imperial Reichsburg Cochem Castle, perched high above the river and the walled old town. The oldest remnants of the castle date back to the 11th century.Sunday reel 30 / 2025#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #visitcochem #germanytourism
