Conquering the Table Mountain: The Skeleton Gorge Conquering the Table Mountain: The Skeleton Gorge challenge!🤩Our first hike on top of the Table mountain was a fantastic experience! Starting from the lush beauty of Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (check the previous post), the Skeleton Gorge trail is one of the challenging climbs to Table Mountain. This gorge is famous for its steep, rocky sections, including several ladders, so it's suitable for somewhat experienced hikers with no fear of heights. The climb up is a bit of a scramble at times, but after we emerged from the indigenous forest, the landscape opened up dramatically, and suddenly we were walking on soft, white sand! The Hely-Hutchinson Reservoir and the white beach around it is a surprising sight at an altitude of 750 meters. From the reservoir lake we continued further up along the trail that runs between Junction Peak and St Michaels Peak, and then to the stunningly beautiful Echo Valley on the mountain's plateau. The mountain nature and the views across the Cape Peninsula from up there are simply amazing 🌿🌺From Echo Valley we circled back towards the water reservoir lakes, and started the descent back to Kirstenbosch, this time via Nursery Ravine, that offers another challenging but beautiful route between the mountain top and the botanical gardens, completing a beautiful, demanding circuit of roughly 15 km and >1000 meters of ascent and descent. If you are looking for a hike that pushes your limits but rewards you with breathtaking views, this route in Cape Town could be perfect for you too! 😍⚠️ Note that this is an intermediate to advanced route. Carry plenty of water, wear sturdy shoes and always check the weather forecast before setting off!#tablemountain #tablemountainnationalpark #skeletongorge #capetownhiking #capetownoutdoors

Table Mountain meets the world of flowers in Kirst Table Mountain meets the world of flowers in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, one of the must-see sights of Cape Town!😍 🌺🌿💚Acclaimed as one of the world's best botanical gardens, this sanctuary showcases the incredible biodiversity of South Africa's Cape flora, being home to thousands of beautiful, indigenous plants.Kirstenbosch botanical garden is great not only for exploring the flora, but also for picnics, long walks (it's a starting point for hiking trails all the way on top of the Table Mountain), or exploring the famous 'Boomslang' treetop canopy bridge.Kirstenbosch was the first botanical garden in the world dedicated entirely to a country's native flora, and it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004.✨ Tip: Check out the popular summer sunset concerts, a series of outdoor concerts organized in the botanical garden!#finnsaway #nomadlife #kirstenbosch #capetown #botanicalgarden #tabletountain #visitcapetown #travelsouthafrica
Greetings from Cape Town!🤩The first week here wa Greetings from Cape Town!🤩The first week here was amazing, and we have already totally fallen for this beautiful city and its surroundings. The nature here is simply stunning – the combination of mountains and beaches is breathtaking – and the city itself is modern and welcoming.❤️We are thrilled that we can call this corner of the world our temporary home until January, and during the coming weeks we will be staying in different parts of the city. We started from the outskirts, a quiet suburb called Vredekloof, and then stayed over the weekend in Rosebank closer to the city center, and next we will move to Fish Hoek, closer to the Cape Peninsula. From Rosebank we first made a day trip to Sea Point and V&A Waterfront and then another to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, from where we hiked up the Skeleton Gorge to the top of the Table Mountain. The hike was fantastic, and there will be many more to come, as there are dozens of interesting, super scenic trails to trek!😍In this picture collection some moments from along the week, more informative posts about each destination in Cape Town will follow.Pics 1-3 Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

One more throwback to purrrrfect Slovenia 😍🐾As y One more throwback to purrrrfect Slovenia 😍🐾As you may already know, we love to do house-sitting / pet-sitting wherever we roam, and during our stay in Slovenia in late October, we had the pleasure to take care of these two lovely fluff balls in a small mountain village near Kranj ❤️We stayed in a cozy, cottage-like wooden house in the middle of the mountains, and the days were filled with laptop time, runs along the forest paths and through the villages, cuddling the cats and relaxing. Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it?Altogether we have done around 50 house-sitting gigs in Europe and beyond, in beautiful homes, taking care of adorable dogs and cats, as well as chickens and other birds. House-sitting is a fantastic way to travel for pet-loving digital nomads like us, who want to stay a bit longer in one place. During the house-sits we prefer staying "home" with the pets a lot, living "normal life" in between the travels. We will also be doing a couple of house-sits here in Cape Town in December, so more posts around this theme (in addition to a bunch of posts about Cape Town) will follow!🤩#finnsaway #nomadlife #housesitting
Slovenia is gorgeous also in autumn! 🇸🇮A throwba Slovenia is gorgeous also in autumn! 🇸🇮A throwback to the crispy mornings, autumn leaves and mountain views we got to admire in late October 🍁🏔️🧡These clips and pics are from the Bohinj National Park, Bled, Kranj and surroundings. This time we unfortunately didn't have time for longer hikes, but we did some wonderful trail runs through forest and meadows on the slover slopes of the snow-capped mountains 😍#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #visitslovenia
Before first updates from Cape Town, that we by th Before first updates from Cape Town, that we by the way love already, a couple of throwbacks to autumn in Europe!🧡With this post we jump to Romania, to the westernmost part of the country, where we visited Timișoara and Băile Herculane along our road trip from Thessaloniki to Warsaw.Timișoara is the 3rd largest city of Romania, and the biggest hub of the western parts of the country. Back in the history, these areas used be part of the Kingdom of Hungary, and then the Ottoman Empire, before falling under the Habsburg rule in 1716. The history can still today be seen in the architecture and culture, and in fact Timișoara is often called as "Little Vienna" because of the majestic, colorful architecture, reminiscent of Vienna.Any visit to Timișoara should include a walking tour in the city center, that is home to several stunning squares, Baroque palaces, churches and overall significant, old buildings that surely would have a story or two to tell. Timișoara also is a city of culture, and in fact it was the European Capital of Culture in 2023.Băile Herculane (pics 6-10) is a historic spa town built in the narrow valley of the Cerna River, with 16 natural springs providing thermal mineral water. According to legends, the mythological god Hercules bathed in the thermal waters of the valley, giving the town its name. The city flourished during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and it was the favorite of Emperor and Empress of Austria, Elisabeth ‘Sissi’ and Franz Joseph, and still today there is bathing tourism, but many of the once stunning baths have been left to decay. The most notable of those building is the gigantic, partly severely dilapidated Băile Neptun (pics 6-7), now under an ambitious renovation project.#finnsaway #nomadlife #visitromania #visittimisoara #baileherculane
Time for a travel plan reveal! 🌍🤩For the past co Time for a travel plan reveal! 🌍🤩For the past couple of weeks we have been traveling in Central Europe and house-sitting in Slovenia, enjoying the crispy autumn weather and the stunning views of autumn leaves and snow-capped mountains. Although it would be quite tempting to stay in some cute mountain cabin for a month or two, it is time for us to leave the camper van and Europe behind, and move to warmer climates for the winter. The first step is to fly to Spain for a week, to meet up with our friends, to work a bit and to enjoy the sunny Mediterranean November. From Andalucia we will then continue to London in mid November, for a flight to CAPE TOWN! 🇿🇦🤩😍Next half a year will be all about exploring southern parts of Africa, starting from South Africa. At this point, we don't have a clear travel plan, just the flight to Cape Town. Most probably we will spend most of the time in South Africa and in Botswana, but also visit at least Namibia, possibly also other countries in the region. But we will star slowly, settling in Cape Town for a while after the hectic autumn in Europe.South Africa is a new country for us, so if you have been there, tips for Cape Town and its surroundings, as well as other places in the Western Cape, and elsewhere in the country, are welcome! Share your experiences or recommendations in the comments, or send us a message directly. The pics are from our first first winter in Africa two years ago, taken in the Nairobi National Park and Amboseli National Park in Kenya.#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #locationindependent #travelphotography #africa #nomadiclife
As the pics in the previous post from Thessaloniki As the pics in the previous post from Thessaloniki were all about monuments and sightseeing, let's do another one focusing on the pet-sitting gig!🐾 The stars of our stay in this beautiful city were of course the dogs and cats that we were taking care of. We had lovely walks along the Thessaloniki Waterfront with the dogs, and enjoyed playing with the cats and cuddling on the sofa with the whole pack in the evenings.🥰Wondering what pet-sitting, or house-sitting is? In short, it is a concept where homeowners entrust their house and often also their pets, plants and gardens to the care of house-sitters while they are on vacation or otherwise away from home for an extended period of time. As a home owner, you get to go on a holiday or work trip knowing, that your house, pets and plants are taken good care of, and in return, the traveling house-sitters get a place to stay and pets to cuddle with.Interested in hearing more and learning how you can do this? Hit us with a DM or comments, we are happy to answer any questions, and can share more info in this channel too if there is interest in this topic!🐾#finnsaway #nomadlife #housesitting
