What is the best beach in Cape Town?☀️🌴That's a What is the best beach in Cape Town?☀️🌴That's a hard question, but Clifton Beach in Clifton, not far from Sea Point is pretty perfect! Clifton Beach is famous for its four sheltered, white-sand coves, (somewhat unimaginatively) named Clifton 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. These gorgeous, beaches are protected from the famous "Cape Doctor" winds by high coastal cliffs and partly separated from each other by large granite boulders.❤️Clifton beaches offer stunning views of the ocean and mountains and a relaxed vibe, but they also have a bit upscale feel with luxury homes right above the white sands. Each beach has a somewhat unique crowd: 1st is quiet and often has a lot of dog walkers, 2nd is more busy and sporty with beach volley players, 3rd is famous for being especially LGBTQ+ friendly, and the 4th is most popular with families, and has a Blue Flag status and life guards during the high season. We first visited these amazing beaches along a morning run with Sua-the-dog, and will probably to return at some point to explore more, and to spend an afternoon sunbathing and admiring the views.😍#finnsaway #nomadlife #capetown #visitcapetown #travelsouthafrica #cliftonbeach #beachlife
For the past 10 days we have been house-sitting in For the past 10 days we have been house-sitting in the fantastic Sea Point on the Atlantic Ocean. This centrally located area is popular for a reason – sandwiched between Signal Hill and the scenic Sea Point Promenade, this neighborhood offers endless possibilities for outdoor life and sunbathing, but also for dining, shopping and so on.As always during house-sits, we've spent quite some time in front of our laptops, but also out on the mountains, parks and beaches. We are here taking care of Sua, a wonderfully energetic, five-year-old mixed-breed dog, that is perfect company for morning runs along the promenade and hikes admiring the famous Lion's Head peak. Sua also loves to fetch, so in the afternoons we head either to the green areas by the promenade, or to one of the beaches that are allowed for dogs, with a frisbee. ❤️🐾Have you ever done house-sits, or considered it for the future travels?🐾#finnsaway #nomadlife #capetown #visitcapetown #travelsouthafrica #seapoint #housesitting
Last week we stayed for a few days in the Fish Hoe Last week we stayed for a few days in the Fish Hoek neighborhood on the False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula. It was a great base for exploring the nature and sights of the peninsula, including African Penguins!Penguin colonies can be found from southern Namibia all the way around the South African coast to Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), but the most popular place for viewing the penguins is the Boulder Beach area in Simon's Town in Cape Peninsula.Instead of the busy Boulder Beach, we headed to the free public beach right next to it, and while there weren't hundreds of penguins like on the Boulder Beach, we did see several of them waddling around, swimming and such standing still on the coastal rocks, so cute creatures! The other attractions of this area include the Cape Point Nature Reserve and the Cape of Good Hope, as well as the enormous, 8 km long Noordhoek Beach (pics 1&9), that is also called the Long Beach (for a reason). There are also great trails for hiking and trail running (pics 7&8 are from a long a trail run in Fish Hoek), and plenty of possibilities for watersports.Simon's Town (seafront of the town in pic 2) itself is home to the South African Navy, and is famous for beaches, penguins, fishing boats and seafood cuisine. This small town is super easy to reach from central Cape Town by the Metrorail Southern Line train to Fish Hoek (pic 10) and onwards from there with another local train (or Uber) to Simon's Town – it's a scenic ride along the coast and costs less than 1 €.#finnsaway #nomadlife #capetown #capepeninsula #visitcapetown #travelsouthafrica #simonstown #africanpenguins
Conquering the Table Mountain: The Skeleton Gorge Conquering the Table Mountain: The Skeleton Gorge challenge!🤩Our first hike on top of the Table mountain was a fantastic experience! Starting from the lush beauty of Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (check the previous post), the Skeleton Gorge trail is one of the challenging climbs to Table Mountain. This gorge is famous for its steep, rocky sections, including several ladders, so it's suitable for somewhat experienced hikers with no fear of heights. The climb up is a bit of a scramble at times, but after we emerged from the indigenous forest, the landscape opened up dramatically, and suddenly we were walking on soft, white sand! The Hely-Hutchinson Reservoir and the white beach around it is a surprising sight at an altitude of 750 meters. From the reservoir lake we continued further up along the trail that runs between Junction Peak and St Michaels Peak, and then to the stunningly beautiful Echo Valley on the mountain's plateau. The mountain nature and the views across the Cape Peninsula from up there are simply amazing 🌿🌺From Echo Valley we circled back towards the water reservoir lakes, and started the descent back to Kirstenbosch, this time via Nursery Ravine, that offers another challenging but beautiful route between the mountain top and the botanical gardens, completing a beautiful, demanding circuit of roughly 15 km and >1000 meters of ascent and descent. If you are looking for a hike that pushes your limits but rewards you with breathtaking views, this route in Cape Town could be perfect for you too! 😍⚠️ Note that this is an intermediate to advanced route. Carry plenty of water, wear sturdy shoes and always check the weather forecast before setting off!#tablemountain #tablemountainnationalpark #skeletongorge #capetownhiking #capetownoutdoors

Table Mountain meets the world of flowers in Kirst Table Mountain meets the world of flowers in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, one of the must-see sights of Cape Town!😍 🌺🌿💚Acclaimed as one of the world's best botanical gardens, this sanctuary showcases the incredible biodiversity of South Africa's Cape flora, being home to thousands of beautiful, indigenous plants.Kirstenbosch botanical garden is great not only for exploring the flora, but also for picnics, long walks (it's a starting point for hiking trails all the way on top of the Table Mountain), or exploring the famous 'Boomslang' treetop canopy bridge.Kirstenbosch was the first botanical garden in the world dedicated entirely to a country's native flora, and it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004.✨ Tip: Check out the popular summer sunset concerts, a series of outdoor concerts organized in the botanical garden!#finnsaway #nomadlife #kirstenbosch #capetown #botanicalgarden #tabletountain #visitcapetown #travelsouthafrica
Greetings from Cape Town!🤩The first week here wa Greetings from Cape Town!🤩The first week here was amazing, and we have already totally fallen for this beautiful city and its surroundings. The nature here is simply stunning – the combination of mountains and beaches is breathtaking – and the city itself is modern and welcoming.❤️We are thrilled that we can call this corner of the world our temporary home until January, and during the coming weeks we will be staying in different parts of the city. We started from the outskirts, a quiet suburb called Vredekloof, and then stayed over the weekend in Rosebank closer to the city center, and next we will move to Fish Hoek, closer to the Cape Peninsula. From Rosebank we first made a day trip to Sea Point and V&A Waterfront and then another to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, from where we hiked up the Skeleton Gorge to the top of the Table Mountain. The hike was fantastic, and there will be many more to come, as there are dozens of interesting, super scenic trails to trek!😍In this picture collection some moments from along the week, more informative posts about each destination in Cape Town will follow.Pics 1-3 Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

One more throwback to purrrrfect Slovenia 😍🐾As y One more throwback to purrrrfect Slovenia 😍🐾As you may already know, we love to do house-sitting / pet-sitting wherever we roam, and during our stay in Slovenia in late October, we had the pleasure to take care of these two lovely fluff balls in a small mountain village near Kranj ❤️We stayed in a cozy, cottage-like wooden house in the middle of the mountains, and the days were filled with laptop time, runs along the forest paths and through the villages, cuddling the cats and relaxing. Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it?Altogether we have done around 50 house-sitting gigs in Europe and beyond, in beautiful homes, taking care of adorable dogs and cats, as well as chickens and other birds. House-sitting is a fantastic way to travel for pet-loving digital nomads like us, who want to stay a bit longer in one place. During the house-sits we prefer staying "home" with the pets a lot, living "normal life" in between the travels. We will also be doing a couple of house-sits here in Cape Town in December, so more posts around this theme (in addition to a bunch of posts about Cape Town) will follow!🤩#finnsaway #nomadlife #housesitting
Slovenia is gorgeous also in autumn! 🇸🇮A throwba Slovenia is gorgeous also in autumn! 🇸🇮A throwback to the crispy mornings, autumn leaves and mountain views we got to admire in late October 🍁🏔️🧡These clips and pics are from the Bohinj National Park, Bled, Kranj and surroundings. This time we unfortunately didn't have time for longer hikes, but we did some wonderful trail runs through forest and meadows on the slover slopes of the snow-capped mountains 😍#finnsaway #nomadlife #digitalnomads #travelforlife #visitslovenia
